Up upon the misty peaks of Mount Olympus sat Geo-Force, the earth shaker and mountain builder, on his satin couch looked down to the mortal plane to spy out the youth he loved. Bright eyed Timothy had long ago won the god's interest and Geo-Force had set out to woo the youth. Only to discover that Timothy had given favor to Arsenal, god of sun and archery. Even though Geo-Force pressed his suit, honeyed words were unheeded and gifts were returned as Timothy gave his heart to Arsenal.

Even now as Geo-Forced looked, the two were together, laughing and throwing the discus back and forth. Jealousy ate at the earth god's heart as he saw Arsenal catch the youth up in his arms. Embittered, Geo-Force rose from his satin couch and left fair Olympus for the mortal world.

* * *

Arsenal, called also Phoebus by mortal man, threw the discus and clapped as Timothy nimbly jumped and caught the discus, his eyes bright with pleasure. There was none that Arsenal held as dear to his heart than this boy. He gladly left Mount Olympus to be close to this youth, Bow and arrow were gladly forgotten for a chance to be by Timothy's side. His grace and quiet beauty captivated all who saw him,.even now Arsenal could hear the wood nymphs calling to Timothy, trying to lure him away. The god walked over the the youth, catching him up in his arms, pulling him away from the woods and swinging him in a circle as he did so.

Bright eyed Timothy twisted in his arms and kiss him softly. “Fearful that I would be tempted away my Phoebus,” Timothy teases lightly.

No my sweet Tim, I know clearly where your heart dwells,” Arsenal says before drawing the youth in for another kiss before taking the discus from his hands. “Come, let a god show you the true way to throw a discus.”

Hidden behind a tree, jealous Geo-Force watched the two toss the discus. With each throw Arsenal made, Geo-Force's heart grew darker. With each laugh that fell from Timothy mouth, anger clouded his vision. Why couldn't the foolish boy see that he was the better match? Geo-Force reached out and caressed the earth, perhaps a fall from grace would tarnish the sun god in Timothy's eyes.

Arsenal took up the discus, ready to throw, when the earth lurched beneath his feet. Arsenal fell sideways to the ground. The discus flew from his hands hurtling towards the mortal youth. “Timothy!” Arsenal cried.

Geo-Force knelt behind the tree as he viewed his crime, his sobs drowned out by Arsenal's cry as he watched the boy he loved die.

Without sound Timothy fell to the earth. Tears blinded Arsenal as he stumbled towards the boy and took him up in his arms. Already Timothy laid slack in his arms, his breast had turned crimson, and his lips cold to the touch.

Hermes, messenger of the gods and guide to the underworld appeared before the grieving sun god. “Dear cousin give up your claim to the boy so I might take him to the Elysium Fields.”

Arsenal shrugged off the hand that was laid upon his shoulder in comfort. “Lord Hades shall not know his sweet smile,” he said holding the boy closer. “Never will my sweet Tim know the coldness of my uncle's realm, but will forever know the kiss of spring.”

With a final kiss to Timothy's brow. He turned him into a small brown bird with a red breast. The little bird perched on Arsenal's knee and chirped up at him.

With a sad smile, Arsenal stroked the little red breast with his finger before the bird took flight. “You will now be the herald of spring and be called Robin by name. Forever more alive and young and forever precious and dear to me.”

That was impossibly sweet and a beautiful use of mythology.
